Bagua

Embark on a journey of self-discovery and mastery with Bagua Kung Fu, an ancient Chinese martial art that is as philosophical as it is physical. At our center, we offer comprehensive classes that delve into the heart of Bagua Kung Fu, providing you with the skills to harness its transformative power.

THE ESSENCE OF BAGUA KUNG FU

Bagua Kung Fu, also known as Baguazhang, is a treasure of the internal martial arts school, standing alongside Tai Chi and Xingyiquan as one of the three main internal styles. Its name, translating to “Eight Trigram Palm,” is inspired by the Bagua trigrams of the I Ching.

A LEGACY OF MASTERY

Attributed to the legendary Dong Haichuan (1797-1882) in the early 19th century, Bagua Kung Fu is said to have been developed through a synthesis of Taoist circle walking and various martial arts prevalent in rural China.

Dong Haichuan’s teachings, refined through his service in the Imperial Palace, laid the foundation for a martial art that emphasizes fluidity, agility, and adaptability.

TRAINING THE MIND AND BODY

Our classes focus on the core principles of Bagua Kung Fu, teaching you to move with the grace of flowing water and the suddenness of a thunderclap. You will learn to walk the circle, a meditative practice that trains your body to move with continuous motion, embodying the cyclical patterns of Bagua Kung Fu’s features.

DIVERSE STYLES, UNIFIED PHILOSOPHY

While Bagua Kung Fu is unified in its philosophy, it is diverse in its expression. Each form offers a unique path to understanding the eight trigrams and their application in self-defense and health.
